VODKA - WHY YOU NEED IT

I can imagine you wondering - for what other reasons could one need a vodka other than for consumption? Weird as it may sound, there are other good benefits why you may want to make vodka a choice.

  • Use vodka to  clean your cloths. It can help remove a stubborn stain, kill undesired odor and keep cloths fresh. All you need to do is dab or spray ideal quantity of vodka on the cloth before launching into the washer. To be on a safe side, it is reasonable to do a spot test first on the piece of clothing.
  •  Get rid of mold with vodka. Start by spraying it on the mold where it is present; allow a good time for it to soak and finally, wipe or clean it.
  • Stop flowers from wilting. Vodka helps prevent the production of ethylene thereby ensuring a lengthy life span for a flower. To achieve this, drop a few quantity of vodka into the flower vase/bowl just as you would if you were adding water.
  • Insects propellant. It is recommended to use vodka to repel bugs. You can achieve this by mixing it with 'apple cider vinegar and drops of citronella or eucalyptus essential oil'. Spray vodka on areas where there are bugs or where you don't want 'em and keep them away. And finally...
  • Use vodka to clean your eyeglasses or windows and mirrors. It leaves the object well polished and shining. Add some on a piece of cloth; then apply where desired and admire the result.

WILL THE SCHENGEN FREE MOVEMENT CHANGE?

In a proposal, the presidents of Italy and France regard the present mass movement of North African immigrants as an 'emergency', calling on EU for a review. As you well know, the schengen visa allows its holder to travel to 23 EU states freely. Simply put: 23 benefits in 1 package.

I will without delay say that the European border-free movement has brought about great national and personal benefits. And one of such is the ability to enjoy refreshing holiday trips by cruise and air to places of choice within the zone. Not to mention the benefits to national tourism.

However, I do realize that with or without the schengen free movement, there will always be tourism but it is more true that people are eager to travel where and when there is less restriction. And that's my point!

How will the EU respond to the proposal? It is not known yet on what direction or how much support the proposal will generate. But if a review is ever agreed upon, I wonder the extent to which it will affect lives - especially of EU immigrants. I guess only time can tell.

While I watch how the 'game' turns out, I will keep exploring, self educating and enriching my life by taking advantage offered by the EU free-border travel.

THE DON'TS ABOUT THE CHICKEN YOU EAT


Chicken has always being a choice of meat for me - counting down many years to this day. Surprised though,  it was interesting for me to learn about some  'don't s'. What are they, you may want to know?

1.  Don't wash your chicken! Rinsing of poultry meat just before cooking is one way to spread contermination. Would you agree to the fact that rinsing 'never get of pathogens' but rather helps spread it all around the kitchen sink and bowl. Then what do you do? Try to get the meat on a pan (avoiding much contact) and 'wipe with hot soapy water or a mixture of hot water and 1 spoon-full of liquid bleach'.

2.  Cook your chicken within two days of buying it! Why? The fridges in stores seem to be more cold compared to those at home - simply because it is opened often and the temperature could fall as low as 26F which is not ideal.

Brain scans show that looking at a photo of your beloved,
especially in the early stages of your relationship, activates 
a part of the brain associated with pleasure and reward as well as 
focused attention and motivation. 

5. Just be together

One study found that average blood pressure was lower 
when a person spent time with his or her spouse than 
when they spent time alone or with other people. 
Even if you don't talk, just spend time in the same room,
reading, watching TV, surfing the web, or doing crossword puzzles.
